My former sister-in-law just moved into MY apartment building!

Of course...it's not MY building, but it does bring up some issues.

When I left the ex, I left completely. No contact with him or any of his family. I've even asked my son specifically to NOT discuss me, or my business with any of the ex's family, because he still sees them on the holidays.

But I simply can't be unfriendly. I always liked my former sister-in-law. She was one of those people who would only call me if she could use me in some way, but I am squishy, and simply couldn't bring myself to be rude to her.

At any rate...I fear that problems are looming in my future.

You are going to have to set boundaries

@chuck7882 I have always had trouble with boundaries when I am face to face with someone...but I can certainly hide out more...just stay in my apartment and not come out.

@4meAndyou Oh my. If you stay in your apartment more just because of her than means you are altering your quality of life because of her thus giving her more importance.
Treat her as the neighbor you only say Hi to in the corridors. And if she steps her boundaries you might be just a tiny bit rude to show her that you're not into anything more than simple camaraderie.

@Friendlyperson You KNOW I can't be rude. It isn't in my nature. But I don't come out of my apartment that often anyway. I am probably making more of it than it is.

I know, I hope nothing will arise to make things go this bad. I hope she will understand the boundaries and not butt her way in into your life.

@Friendlyperson As long as she doesn't invite the ex over, things should be okay.

We exchanged phone numbers. She has had a total shoulder replacement after a bad fall. so I texted a lady I know who might be able to get her a house cleaner.

Then she could get help from that lady afterwards, pretend not to know anyone in the area anymore. Lol.

Also, if the ex is invited, then yeah, home seems like a beautiful place to stay in and go out till the ex is no longer 🤣

@Friendlyperson VERY true!
