I have a single male friend who adopted his nephew. The child's mother did not want to be a parent. My friend is doing a great job raising his adopted son.

@sugarpie Two of my grandchildren are adopted. It was an open adoption, so the birth parents know the adopting parents. Strict laws in our state prevent any interference by the birth parents. It may be the same where you live.
