My aunt beat me when I was little. My adoptive dad was chill. My adoptive mother cussed a lot.

Negligent and clueless.
They had already raised a son. Why bother with the daughter??

Didn't really grow up with parents just my sister and cousin and me 🌻💛

I found out I was adopted after my mother passed. I would have been happy never knowing. It's apparently what my mother wanted. My parents were awesome now that I know enough about the troubles of other families. Adopted or not they were my parents and will always be considered as such. Even after I found out I didn't give much thought to who gave me up. I know their nationality and thats all. I was more pissed off at the relative who broke my mother's wishes and never spoke to her again.

They were strict about grades, safety, and adherence to the faith. Otherwise, they were fairly chill. My parents really didn't expect us to help around the house much at all. All I really did was mow the lawn, operate the dishwasher, and occasionally vacuum, lol, and they were satisfied. It was kind of ridiculous in retrospect.

I don't think I should call them strict. They were abusive and lacking humanity.

They were somehow simultaneously strict and negligent.
MrsRachelEvans · 31-35, F
Very strict and old fashioned.

They were chill as long as my grades were high. Anything below a B+ would be an apocalypse. Anything below an A would just be a little verbal abuse and some scrutiny. If I had straight A’s, life was pretty easy. Rules were very malleable.

My Dad was strict and only needed to hit me with a belt a few times to make me never want to be out of line again.
My Mom was pretty lax about stuff but when she was drunk and if I looked at her wrong she would kick me, hit me with a wooden spoon, push me down on the floor to kick me.
When she quit drinking when I was 12 she stopped physically abusing me.
So my parents were actually abusive. They taught me exactly what not to do as a parent.

Chill. Maybe too chill but not neglectful
Mom was great. Dad was a tow the line guy. He owned his own business. As long as I worked for him and didn't complain life wasn't bad. My mom made him pay me, but it was less than minimum wage. He said he put a roof over my head and food in my stomach. He shouldn't have to pay me at all.
My Dad was chill, my mother, a strict uber religious authortarian.
