I love my grandpa but..

I have been living with him and this summer it has been especially hot and he refuses to put on the AC. Of course I've tried all I can to keep cool I have a fan, I always drink cold water and even wear literally nothing. But it is still so hot.. and it causes other problems like none of my friends want to hang out at my place or when he has his friends over I have to be careful leaving my room because his friends will see me basically wearing nothing and it is impossible to sleep at night.

idk how to convince him to turn on the AC.

Girl, get a fan and spritz bottle. Put that fan less than 2 feet in front of you (dep being on size- you want to feel the breeze), then put that spray bottle on mist, and mist the shit out of yourself.

It’s like sweating but 100000000000x better and more cooling. And doesn’t require really much. My cheat to beating the heat (I live in an attic that gets over 90F regularly, it works)
Age old trick in the book, just open all doors and windows it what us Brits have to do in a heatwave. Use a fan if you have to, I sleep with just a bed sheet over me, I often wake up freezing cold but then at least I know I’m doing something right.

@Gingerbreadspice thanks! I might try that!

It might be a cost consideration as has been mentioned. Out here in California, PG&E can send you into bankruptcy cooling your home. There are some water-based room AC units that might be fairly cheap. Maybe he'll let you use that in your room. I'm probably in his age group LOL. Still, I'd not have a family member living with me and have them suffer. Especially if she's got to be almost naked to stay cool. That's not cool. Good luck!

@rfatoday thanks! Still no luck for me still just barely wearing anything, taking cold showers and using fans
Jimmy2016 · 61-69, M
🤔.........maybe offer to help him with the electrical bill. Since you have AC in the house not sure if it would be worth buying a window AC unit for your room........Also wear Dri-Fit clothing which is designed to wick moisture from your body, like athletic clothing runners wear. Don't wear cotton clothing which will absorb moisture....
Laurenn · F
@Jimmy2016 yeah I wear stuff like thay my nike pros are a saviour

Consider getting a window AC.

I'll be honest with you, older people have serious problems with it cold. They have problems with arthritis, sometimes even muscle spasms below 80° f.

This is my case. I have severe back spasms when it's cold. The AC here is set right now at 85°f.

May you live long enough to experience the problems gramp has with his personal thermostat - and in the meantime find a solution that works for both of you. I'm guessing when he was your age there was no A/C; people just found ways to live with the heat.
Laurenn · F
@ffony I am trying!
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Is he worried about the cost of using it?
ffony · M
Why do people think this is about money?' What it sounds like is a young and an old person living together but lacking both the will and the desire to create a compromise, based on understanding and validating their individual needs. Deciding who pays the bills won't fix that.
GinPanda · 26-30, F
Leaving this right here....
Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
My parents are the same when I visit. Old people loose circulation and are more sensitive to cold. They run hot!
Laurenn · F
@Quetzalcoatlus actually?
ffony · M
@Laurenn Very actually: Gramp was your first hint!
Quetzalcoatlus · 46-50, M
@Laurenn Yes

Get a tabletop AC unit for your room. I just bought one at Walmart for like $30

You may have to pitch in on the electricity bill to get him to turn it on.

Embrace your beauty and the heat, and enjoy the moments of attention.
Penny · 46-50, F
Offer to pay the bill?
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
Take over responsibility for paying the hydro bill.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@ffony Yes, I have real people in mind. Are you suggesting you don't know entitled people, never heard of entitled people, or can't conceive people being entitled? Or, are you... you know... in denial?
ffony · M
@MarkPaul
Are you suggesting
No - just asking if you actually know the people you're criticizing. But don't worry; it's really of no account.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@ffony Question answered. Objection over-ruled. Suspicion confirmed. On your way, lil bro.
shakemeup · 36-40
I'd stick an envelope with cash to the wall next to the ac control and write: AC summer Go fund me cash. Or offer to pay the electric bill.

You could also go buy one of this little one room air conditioner things.
mayguy · 46-50, M
Omg Lauren that's awful. It's been 🥵🥵🥵 in my area too so far this summer. Have you talked to him about turning on the AC sometimes? It can be super expensive in summer but at least yall won't sweat to death.
Adogslife · 61-69, M
Take the a/c out of the window and put it in the middle of the kitchen floor.

If he asks why it’s there, tell him since you’re not using it, I didn’t know where you wanted it.
Nevertooold · 56-60, M
Good luck with that....I cannot sleep well at all when I'm hot....If you have a basement is might be 10-15 degrees cooler than upstairs
Laurenn · F
@Nevertooold no basement ☹
I'm not seeing a downside to seeing u wearing virtually nothing. lol That would rtaise the temperature another 20 degrees I'm sure. lol
Panamared · 70-79, M
Maybe being old it is not that hot for him, or maybe he likes you shedding your clothes

Laurenn · F
@Panamared @Panamared I don't think that's true... weird lol
InHeaven · F
…um…pay the electricity bill with AC on? I’m sure that will convince him to turn it on for you 🤔🤔
AnonymousJSS · 22-25, F
Get a bowl of ice and put it in front of the fan and sit there for a while to cool off.
shakemeup · 36-40
Good idea. I used to do that as a kid. It helps.
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
Go naked and tell him it's either that or put the AC on lol
Laurenn · F
@braveheart21 I literally walk around with like a shirt that only covers my tits with no bra and booty shorts around the house. I told him I will always be wearing that even if he has guests unless it gets colder lol
braveheart21 · 61-69, M
@Laurenn I am a nudist so I don't wear anything as much as possible and only the minimum when I have visitors...

Sounds like I would love to have you live with me lol... 🤭🤭😂
fun4us2b · M
Get one of those little cooler fans that you add ice to for your room....
QuietEd2019 · 31-35, M
Sorry you’re having trouble at your grandpas house 🫂🫂🫂

*Throws a Molotov cocktail at the side of the house*😌
updown2020 · 61-69, M
Well have you asked him why he will not turn it on?
QCDog2659 · 61-69, M
Tell him that the heat is affecting your health.
MrAverage1965 · 61-69, M
Maybe he enjoys seeing you almost naked
Jlhzfromep · M
Have you asked him about it?
TexChik · F
Ask for a window unit for your room.
Lilymoon · F
Cold shower
Laurenn · F
@Lilymoon yes good idea!
Walk around naked in front of his friends. That might cause him to turn it on.
Laurenn · F
@aboveaverageaveragejoe yes embarassment lmao
