What do you do when you want a relationship with your siblings, but they don't seem to want one with you?

I have made it known how I feel.
I have asked why we don't get together and do things.
(I got no response, just "I don't know, we don't know")

This has been going on for years,

We have never been close.

We are several years apart, but since we are all adults, that really shouldn't matter.

Mom mentioned getting her grandkids (my nieces) Valentine's gifts.

I stated, " I would get them something but I never see them"
(Custody battle issues).

Then mom says, you should come on Saturdays, they come by almost every week.
(As far as I knew, they were with their dad every weekend)

I haven't seen them in months, yet they congregate 10 minutes away nearly every week and don't bother to mention it?

I really wonder what my future/ family/ holidays will look like in the future.

It's hurtful

I'm torn between saying something about it for the last time, even though I shouldn't have to, or just moving on and not talking to them anymore.

I wish I had an answer, but most my siblings have spouses that aren't too into the other siblings. I always thought we would be together and close forever bug it wasn't meant to be.

@Fungirlmmm how are spouses keeping siblings apart?
Can siblings not get together without their spouses?
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
@iamnikki apparently not

I had to let my family go.

I'm so sorry. I know this pain.

I've a question for you, are you really interested in your sibling as a person?
Or is it the idea or the feeling that you're siblings so you've got to have a relationship going?
I've asked this myself about my siblings.

@iamnikki because maybe deep down you don't want to be included, look there, make sure.. I'm sorry if I'm sounding cold. I'm not cold, I'm trying to be honest.

@being I have two small nieces that I rarely get to see. I want to be in their lives and see them grow up but I guess it isn't meant to be.
Life sure is a funny thing.

@iamnikki I too have three little nieces and a nephew.. I was in their lives at one point but it's difficult, I understand..

On the outset your post seemed like you wish to sleep with your siblings. You should have mentioned family relationship and like bring your family together more often.

But once broken, family reunion is tough as each have their own agenda in life. Festivals were organized those days only to bring all relatives together, but the commercial world has successfully ruined relationships, as many get to live within their enclosure.

So don't put effort to unite and instead become more societal to those near and dear at work or neighborhood etc.

Go on Saturdays and visit the kids. Make the first move. Invite your siblings to your place for dinner

They moved away years ago and never kept in touch. They're older than me too. Complete strangers to me now.

If I left it for them to do something....................... Fuck it, I'll take the initiative. That's pretty much how its always been.
