I just don't get it

Why does a death in the family all was brings out the worst in the family. When my uncle died a few year's ago the whole family was fighting over his stuff and money. My grandfather passed away a week ago and we are trying to plan his funeral and everyone is fighting like a pack of lions fighting over a zebra. Gee my mom hates my aunt. Then my mom and her sister and brother are arguing all most every day

Because there is always one in the family. We had this close to thirty years ago, when my mother in law passed away. She had lived with us in our home, which we extended to accomodate her. The relationship between her and her eldest daughter had always been fraught. But we made the effort to bury the hatchet for the funeral and sake of forgiveness. Blow me down if the daughter didnt start a fight over costume jewellery in the funeral car on the way to the service.. In a somewhat tense meeting a month later we discussed the will, which left nothing to her (not that there was much) we offered to make a goodwill payment, because it just wasnt right to leave her out in the cold. (BTW, We paid for the funeral) But the response was a legal letter, claiming a portion of our home, as her place of residence. A couple of letters settled that. And we havent heard from any of that branch of the family since.😷
