Why parents can't accept they make mistakes? 🥹

WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I can. I even apologize to my children when I do.

Some parents do and some don’t. Parents are just humans like anyone else, they most certainly can and do fuck up along the way at times. Some people don’t like to admit they are wrong (parent or not). I personally think it’s important to be able to admit to my children when I am wrong or if I reacted to something in a way I shouldn’t have. I tell them all the time, everyone makes mistakes (even grown ups). I apologize, we talk things through, and move forward

@WaryWitchWandering I just want to hear "I'm sorry if I did that" 😔 not "because... you don't understand..."
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@sugarpie I’m sorry that is how it is for you. My parents were much the same. I don’t speak to my father at all, but my mother has apologized to me in my adult life about some of the stuff that occurred. I did cut her out of my life for a bit of time, but allowed her back in and she has admitted to a lot of the mistakes she made as a mother, we have a good understanding at this point in my life. We are actually pretty damn close, and she is great as a Noni (my kids grandmother)

Maybe some day you will be able to have a heart to heart with them and feel heard ❤️

@WaryWitchWandering I still love them
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
I certainly do. I try to be aware and I apologize if I say or do something that I know isn't right.

I try to teach my son that I DO make mistakes and it's not okay for him to feel bad about it. So he will tell me if he feels slighted.
There are times when my kids and I do not accept the same narrative. Our perspectives at the time things took place were very different. But shock and surprise, I do know I'm not perfect. I know there were time I was down right terrible. But we don't always agree on the same mistakes.

@nonsensiclesnail you deserve a snaily hug <3
They did, they had ME! 😂

I did with my child. And wish more parents did so their kids know parents arent perfect and make mistakes. It really makes a difference to the child and their well being.

may be ego as they're elders?🤦‍♀️
Asian parents mostly are all same.

Maybe it's a defensive mechanism.

Some do? I do to my kid.
Pretzel · 61-69, M
some of us do
pdockal · 56-60, M
Who says they can't ?
pdockal · 56-60, M
@sugarpie forget what she tells others ... concentrate on how she deals with you
sugarpie · 26-30, F
@pdockal no, I'll just forget it. I don't want to have a heavy heart
pdockal · 56-60, M
@sugarpie

sometimes thats the best solution
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
I always do, and expect that my daughter will do likewise. It makes both of us a bit more approachable 🙂

Because it would hurt their childrens feelings to know that they weren't planned.
Why can't children accept parents make mistakes? 🤔
sugarpie · 26-30, F
@thewindupbirdchronicles so parents mistakes are justifiable because children must first need to understand parents? Should parents be the first model to their children?
SW-User
I certainly have and do

What happened?
What mistakes do you think yours made?
