I have a relative too. Sadly, some let themselves be treated like dirt or maids just because they're expecting inheritance from an aunt who obviously cares more for her dogs than them. They are treated like dogsitters but they let it happen. And said aunt has no regards being rude to humans.

This is why we don't attend their charades any more. If they wanna worship the beast, they can do it on their own. But I want no part in it.

@seana how old are your kids maybe they want to help take care of the dog. My 3 year old her chore is to feed the bird's outside. She loves to watch the squirrels eating

@smileylovesgaming its not about the kids lol its about the 5 week old baby who needs quiet and calm and routine and 24/7 cuddles. not a big loud dog in the house

@seana Sometimes it is hard to be compassionate toward the addict when you see the results of her addiction in her children.

@hippyjoe1955 it’s a daily struggle for my husband as he has pretty strong feelings of hatred towards her. I try not to give her much of my energy. To me my dad is worse.

@seana Addiction and its enablers are something that is hard to deal with. Do you unconditionally give them what they need to survive or do you at some point say 'enough' and deny them the food and shelter they need so they don't spend all their money on their 'hobby'. It truly is a hard choice to make but the one thing you have to do is keep yourself separate from them emotionally of they will use you like a rented car. Fast and furious and they don't care what condition you are in.

@Teslin yup. My MIL is an addict and had a baby with zero prenatal care and took drugs throughout pregnancy. The recovery for a baby is horrific

@ineedadrink seriously!!! She actually wanted us to haul all 3 kids an hour away to her house to take care of him for a week. When I said no she said she will bring him to us (she refused this last year and we took our then 6 and 3yo to her house, she thought that was easier than bringing all the dogs things to our place).

She did call me at the end of May to tell me the dates she was going away this year and I said I would confirm with my husband and get back to her. Then we got the call about baby… so yeah, slipped my mind

@cherryxblossom yeah no kids, which I think she is kinda bitter about. And some of my moms family don’t like my kids because they are my dad’s, so that’s part of the reason too. She told me to my face she doesn’t like my 7yo, and I’m sure its partly that and partly because she was scared of the dog and took a while to warm up to him
