I love my brother but...

He needs to stop asking me for money. 😞

I'm not in a place where I can afford to share right now. I have sent him money here and there to help him out when I have extra, but right now my money is tight. Back when I was struggling and couldn't find a job and was stuck in Texas, I never asked him for money. 🤔 I know he's having a hard time but come on, man, you're grown now, you need to go out and find a solution like I had to do.
I can relate. Do you see him often? I live with my brother and don't have it in me to say no because I know he struggles a lot with his mental health. But damn is it rough just handing over cash and constantly paying for another adult.

@Nadie he's in Tennessee and I'm in Arizona. I haven't seen him face to face in over 4 years. 😞
@DearAmbellina2113 that probably adds to the guilt trip. 😔

Absolutely. The free ride days are gone every thing costes way more

I have a sister like that, she tried to get our mother to remove me from her will unless I was willing to pay for what mom and dad wanted me to inherit. Useless, forget about them and move on. I haven't spoken to my sister since 2018. I don't have the drama in my life, I don't have the anger and resentments.
Some people are just not adept at finding solutions. Instead of giving him money, maybe give him advice. Then it's on him if he takes it or not.

@froggtongue I have
@DearAmbellina2113 then it sounds like you already know your path. Best of luck with and to your brother.

It's not nice when that happens. Especially with siblings.. You can tell him your money is too tight right now or even tell him no without giving a reason that you can only use temporarily.

I understand, but I would j suggest that when you struggle, you should ask him for money too. It has to go both ways. If all you do is give and never receive, that’ll give him the wrong impression.

What does he do for a living?
@DearAmbellina2113 then he should be able to support himself

@darkknightt I think his car had something wrong with it and having it fixed set him back quite a bit.

It's hard to say no,,,especially to family.
But you gotta do it..

Btw... can I borrow a dollar?

I agree. Tell him that. You have no reason to feel guilty.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
You have to say "No".
