Sister is Still Best Friends After 60 Years

It's been a long, long time, but after just over 60 years when my sister left home, we've picked up where we left off all those years ago. We went our separate ways, married, had kids and moved to different parts of the country. Other than the occasional visit, family gathering or phone call, we lead pretty much separate lives.
I was widowed 11 years ago and she lost her husband about 6 years ago, and since then, we've got a lot closer. Over the past two years, we've started to appreciate spending more and more time together - she's a damn good cook and I'm still pretty handy at DIY! We took our first vacation together earlier this year as soon as covid restrictions allowed. I found it amazing that apart from our two eldest, our kids were horrified when we told them our plans. The older two just said ignore everyone, go for it and enjoy ourselves. Many of our friends have said pretty much the same.

Too many narrow minded people around David. We maybe old but we still need a bit of fun in our lives, and holidaying on your own is no fun. I hope you shared a room? It's a heck of a lot less expensive than paying for two singles. 馃槈

@HubbyB Yes, we did share the room and that's what the kids can't get to grips with.

@DavidW Great! So long as you're both happy with what your doing and no-one is getting hurt I don't see the problem. If two of the kids are happy with it then the others will eventually come round. When you get to our age, what you're doing together becomes far less of an issue. Celebacy at any age isn't nice so enjoy it while you can.

@HubbyB It's funny but the two kids who are okay with it are both happily married with fantastic partners and happy kids of their own. The others are also married, no kids of their own, and with both them and their other halves very career orientated. My sister and I think it's just jealousy.
Okay - what we're doing is questionable to some but we're both 70+ years old and can make our own decisions.

@DavidW David...why do you say what you're doing is questionable? It's nobody else's business what you do together. If you're both happy and enjoy it, go for it. Don't think of it as s..e..x.. - it's having fun together. 馃槂 Everyone is entitled to that.

@RichLizzie Thanks sweetheart. if only everyone was as understanding. CanI ask, how old are your parents? Are they our age?
RichLizzie36-40, F
@DavidW Mum is 68 and dad is 70.
DavidW70-79, M
@RichLizzie I thought they'd be younger than that.
RichLizzie36-40, F
@DavidW Nooooo! I have two older sisters then a big gap before me. My dad told me I was an accident! Lol!
DavidW70-79, M
@RichLizzie A nice accident I bet! PM if you want - we can can chat easier then. Only if you want though.
DavidW70-79, M
@HubbyB We did share the room and booked in the hotel as Mr and Mrs. I forgot they always check your passports at the hotel so our secret was rumbled straight away. No-one was bothered anyway so next time I'll use our proper names.

@DavidW Oooooops!
HubbyB70-79, M
@DavidW haha! They'll no doubt remember you! Was sister okay with that it was she mortified?
DavidW70-79, M
@HubbyB mortified. It was her idea to register as husband and wife to save embarrassment.
samueltyler280-89, M
@DavidW that is so interesting. Did you have that relationship growing up?
DavidW70-79, M
@samueltyler2 In younger years, yes.
