Even when they (knowingly) disrespect you and your boundaries? Shun you and label you an embarrassment because of your mental illness? 🤔 When they make it a point to make you feel left out and unwanted and like "you didn't come out right"?

@JupiterDreams I'm in a similar situation as you state in your comment. I have cut them off. No more verbal abuse, belittling, insults and a refusal to listen on their part.

The bonds we make by choice are often more important than those that share our DNA.
Family doesn’t get to have loyalty, love etc without meeting standards of respect etc If you’d cut someone out that wasn’t “family” for doing xyz then those blood relatives should be held to the same expectation if not higher.
