The dream state

This might be a weird one, but do any dead relatives or friends show up in yours at times? Both my parents and sister as well as a good friend do in mine.

Yes, both parents and my brother.
Yes. It's comforting
Ontheroad · M
My mother does every now and again, less often but my grandmother still does.
SleepingWithGhosts · 46-50, M
My best friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident nearly 20 years ago.
craig7 · 70-79, M
Hardly ever. However,my father appeared just once - nearly 30 years after he had passed, and a couple of months before my mother did.Oddly,in the dream,he was in our old house which we had moved out of 40 years earlier,he just stood and looked at me,that was it.As my mother was in failing health at the time,I wondered then,if the dream was a "sign".
craig7 · 70-79, M
@JohnnyNoir Yes,especially since this is the only time since his death in 1973,that he has ever turned up in a dream.
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
@craig7 keep the memory of that alive please
craig7 · 70-79, M
@JohnnyNoir I will,after 23 years now.
I've had several dreams about a friend who died years ago. In fact, I just dreamt about him the other night.

Yes. Certainly not every damn night, or I would never sleep! My mother used to show up regularly, but she probably got tired of me yelling at her...which I did in almost EVERY dream. My father showed up once, and that was sort of cool.

The rest of my dreams are populated by strangers.
JohnnyNoir · 61-69, M
@4meAndyou she was probably telling you to put on some pajamas
4meAndyou · F
@JohnnyNoir Nope. I was yelling at her for the way she always BEHAVED when she was alive. Manipulative, cruel...blah blah blah!!!

But yes, when I was around eight or nine years old I had to sleep in a bedroom like an oven, out in Nebraska, with a TINY window up high, and I was roasting alive. I asked her if I could take off my pajamas and she said NO.
All the time. My grandmother, my sister, sometimes my mom and other people i don't know but they are for sure dead.

I was elbowing Lou Rawls in the ribs once when I was in line for karaoke feeling nervous in a dream but he's not a relative and I didn't know him but he's probably dead. Anyway he said "you'll be all right kid" but in a deeper voice.

yes all of them along with strangers, I have no idea who they are.
Since my mother’s passing in 2023, I’ve dreamed of her in very realistic dreams. The very last dream, shortly after my brother’s birthday this year when I couldn’t reach him, I dreamed our mother was begging me to find him.

After a search, my middle sister and I discovered he’d not been able to find another apartment and had become homeless. We found him in a hospital, very ill. He had been staying in a shelter…and hadn’t said a word to anyone.

I had him brought here after his release, and he’s been staying with me ever since. He’s on the mend and will be soon able to return to work.
