Dreams are the brain's way of trying to work through all the things that are bothering you, using the hippocampus portion of the brain, and using symbols. The right side of the brain does not always have the use of logic and language, and often develops a language of its own to try to communicate with the left side of your brain, which DOES have the use of logic, language, and so on.
The problem for the general public is that we have no idea what those symbols mean, usually.
Try this: go to the website "mydreamvisions.com" and click on their dream analyzer. Try to separate ONE important element of the dream and type it in. It could be something like..."running", or "fire", or "mother".
Just do one word at a time, otherwise the analyzer will overwhelm you with information that doesn't apply.
The fact that you are having a recurring dream means that something is REALLY bothering you, and you need to figure out what it is, and work on it, so that you can have some peace in your life.

I have this terrible recurring dream where I'm back in high-school and I haven't started on my final art project. Whenever I'm feeling anxious about something, particularly something time related I have that dream. It's not always the art project but it often is because that was my most stressful subject in high-school. I'll also dream I'm stuck in 12th grade and my life is passing me by. That's an insecurity dream about where I thought I would be when I was in 12th grade vs where I am now 10 years later.

Good question. I haven't had this one in awhile but I used to dream alot about climbing stairs and then I'd get way up high and have to cross over to another set of stairs.. Very disturbing...

@Tumbleweed I don’t usually think about it, until I keep having the same ones over and over, there has to be some meaning to them.

@DHggmu I think so too. I wish I could figure it out. I also have one about airplanes, I'm always afraid in that dream too

There are different ways to approach dreams, from culture, to spirituality to science. I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle of all of the. But for reoccurring I would lean on it being your mind trying to reconcile things that your consciousness may be working through that it has not found an answer to yet.

Recurring themes or places? I think that there might be some general explanations for certain themes. For example, being naked in public places might mean you think you don't guard your privacy enough and possibly overshare or dreams about being back to school might mean you feel like you should educate yourself on something, for example when your work requires it.

@CrazyMusicLover Most recently it’s reoccurring themes, and barely recognising the other people on the dreams, always found it strange when I dream about people I don’t recognise, like who is this person and why are they here?
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@DHggmu I know the feeling, especially when I'm very close to that person. Or when I vividly remember the face of someone I talked to in a dream. Like the last night when I was with some roommate I have never seen in real life.

@CrazyMusicLover Yes exactly, just last night I had a dream where the entire time I was with a person who I don’t know, but we seemed close. And I’ve had similar dreams the past week or two. I’m glad it’s not just me, but it does make me think do these dreams mean something that I’m not aware of.

The content is likely from a previous life experience that's breaking through into your consciousness. It's describing an unresolved issue from before. That's why it repeats itself.
