Do you have vivid dreams of close relative that passed away?

16 years ago my older sister passed away at 27 years of age. I dream of her every so often and the dreams are quite vivid. I'm always surprised to see her because "gosh, I thought you had died or something". In these dreams, I often wonder where the heck I got that idea from, she's clearly there and in good health laughing and smiling. Of course then I wake up and am immediately overcome by the reality of it all just being a dream.

From what I've heard, dreams of a recently deceased loved one are very common. Last year, after my Dad passed, Mum was constantly complaining of dreams of him being beside her in the bedroom, talking to her. The dreams seemed so real and lifelike that she was shocked when she woke up to find him gone. And... she could never remember what it was Dad had been saying. It distressed her that she couldn't remember, because she was afraid it was something important.

I've had them sometimes. A few times I was very scared, saying in my dream, no, that can't be, they died. I've even re-lived someone dying again in my dream, I was like, not again. It felt so real.
In another dream, my grandma, again I got suspicious thinking she's died and she realised so she turned away to leave but I called her and she came back and hold my hand and told me beautiful things.
With other friends too, I have this experience yes.

No with dead people.. But people that are no longer in my life. It sucks because it's like there, they're definitely with me.

@SW-User I get those dreams too all the time of past friends who are still living... It's bewildering, because in dreams, I'm so close to them. But in the waking world, there's no connection.

@SW-User I know that feeling 😕 why do you think one dreams about them, I do it sometimes after years

@SW-User Yes, there are people long gone out of my life who I've dreamed of for 35+ years. By daytime, I have no feelings for them and try to shrug it off. I'm guessing that what it means is that there is some unresolved emotional conflict that's haunting me. How to resolve it is the question...
Yes. Almost every day. Its a normal part of grieving.

I’ve had two of my mom and 1 of my grandma. All 3 were heart to heart conversations, just one on one. I woke up unable to remember anything we spoke about each time. I’ve often wondered if they came to speak with me from beyond the grave. It sure felt like it.

Sometimes I do. It's very disconcerting, but I think these dreams are a kind of message to us...or a view beyond the veil. They tell us that our loved ones who have passed on really ARE still with us.

No I don't. I have dreamed a couple of times about my parents, but only a couple.
Every time I dream of my grandmother, she is at her own funeral, which in the dream is being held someplace absurd and circus like.
She wont stay dead. I have to direct her back to her casket over and over again, for for that she's starting to smell and I know it would make her so sad to offend anyone.
I miss that lil lady.

Yes, I had that very dream after my mother passed away. It was just the once though. Not sure how to read it really. Closure perhaps?
