The southern fire ant introduced itself to me today

Solution:

Fill a large pot with water

Place it on the oven on high until it reaches a roiling boil

Take it outside and carefully pour it over the entire ant hill

The tunnels will fill quickly with the boiling water leaving the searing fire ants nowhere to go

In a couple of days, mash the remains of the ant hill with your boot or shovel

Problem solved. 🐜

I hear the outback guys take it a step further and dip those suckers in honey and crunch on 'em for closure. But that's up to you.
