Why is it that when a guy tries to lift weights and it's too heavy for him they just fall backwards?

...I've been looking at YouTube vids and thsy lift, drop it, then fall over. Why does that happen? Muscle strain or something?

They don't want to damage their pretty faces by falling forwards.
