Why is it that when a guy tries to lift weights and it's too heavy for him they just fall backwards?

...I've been looking at YouTube vids and thsy lift, drop it, then fall over. Why does that happen? Muscle strain or something?

means that they are doing it wrong and are overcompensating before completely failing

doing it right means safely releasing or lowering, not dropping and having enough left to walk away

It's part of the training.

They don't want to damage their pretty faces by falling forwards.
