Would you return a drink if you didn't like it for something else?

I once did it at a restaurant and they did not charge me for the first drink.

This post reminds me of something that happened long ago.....

My ex and I had met up in a town that was halfway between where each of us was living at the time. She was about 2 months along and we went to the hotels "bar" to shoot some stick. While we were shooting pool, the server asked us if we wanted anything and I ordered a beer and she requested a tea.

She had them take back the LONG ISLAND ICED TEA,,,,,,

For something small as a drink I usually don't send it back, but I remember not to get that flavor again.
Here in the United States, I don't know what they do in Canada ,you get free refills usually if it's a soft drink , iced tea, or coffee if you're in the restaurant.
In that case I would ask for a different drink when they went to refill my drink or just refill with a different one if fast food from self serve fountain.

It would depend on the barista or bartender. I am not picky but I like to know that someone is listening to me

I once ordered a glass of brandy. The bartender put some ice in a glass and poured the brandy over it. I told him brandy comes in a snifter. He poured the icy brandy into a snifter. I threw it in his face and left.

yeah I ask them to remake it or give me something else. that's why I just stopped ordering those and switched to plain coffee or cold brew.

By all means, have it replaced if you're dissatisfied. I believe that's your right as a paying customer.

Yes, you can return it and ask to replace it with another coffee. I have asked for food to be replaced and they have.

Pay for both of em or get 1 for free?

I can’t drink alcohol for medical reasons so sure I’d return the vodka sprite you sent over for a hydrating beverage in its place. Also I enjoy coffee and tea. In general avoid fountain drinks of any kind. FYI corn syrup is toxic

Okay, we're in a restaurant with a bar I would order a Tanqueray and tonic on the first order. That has a unique flavor. Bartenders will try to save the money and slip you some cheap junk. Hell, they even put cheap stuff in the real bottle to hide it. I have sent those back immediately with the waitress before she leaves the table because I taste it when she hands it to me. Yeah, don't ever be afraid to send stuff back. Oh, except your food. But you already know about that threat. The fear of having to spit your food. Yeah, that's a real problem.

If it's wrong from my order, I'll make them do it again.
If it's what I ordered and I didn't like it, I'd either deal with it or just get something else.

Only if it was wine and had obviously gone bad. Otherwise, the kind of drinks I order are pretty hard to screw up. I guess if a soda was flat or the mix was off, I'd ask for something else. At a bar, I usually drink neat so if I don't like something, that's on me.

If it is something with free refills, I might ask for something else which is at the same price, like another flavor or brand, or at least ask for something different for the next glass or cup. Most drinks I get have free refills.

If it is a single thing I might just live with it and remember never to get it again.

Sometimes I never go back to the establishment for anything, at least for a while. But usually my boycotts are due to bad service.

Yet I recently lifted one boycott because I moved to a new location, where the number of full service breakfast restaurants are more limited and wait times on weekends are atrocious. There is plenty of fast food, but I want full service.

One full service place had an hour wait so I left and got immediately seated at a place across the street that I'd vowed to never go to again. Hunger and impatience won out, over the memory of bad service. This time the service was fine, fortunately. So I've been back again. Now I boycott the first place due to the hour wait! 😁
