How would you feel?

I remember when my aunt had a very rare disorder in the hospital, I went to visit. They were saying there were a couple types of the disorder and she had the most aggressive one, and that she'd most likely pass from it. It was truly devastating. (She did pass two months later)😟
Her daughter and my uncle were there too, and I brought in a nice large bouquet of flowers. As we all were leaving after visiting my aunt, my cousin and uncle said, "We aren't taking the flowers home. We have a lot. You can just leave them at the nurse station." And they both left. 🙁
At the time that stung Bec I spent a while picking them out..and I still think back to that day . would you have felt sad or dismissed? I know if someone got my mom flowers I'd never say "I can't take them just leave them here. " There was plenty of room at their house when we went back. It's not that important now of course, but how would you have felt/reacted?
( These two family members have been very rude to me multiple times before, and I don't stay in touch now, for some context)

A similar situation. I brought a bouquet of flowers to an aunt and my sister was there. She wrote me a “poison pen” letter later when I got so fed up with her BS that I stopped letting her come over or anything like that. She wrote in the letter “Keep bringing those flowers to her, I’m sure that’ll make her feel good.” Some people seem to have no soul for compassion or understand the symbolism of giving a small gift like flowers as a thoughtful gesture.

@cherokeepatti Wow that was really brash.. was she like that growing up?

I wouldn't be happy.
But, I think I would have took them home.
There's no reason for you to stay in touch if they're rude to you.

@Justmeraeagain Thank you Rae

Disrespect is what I would have felt

I think I’d give them a pass. Everybody deals with grief in their own way. You did what was right and I’m sure your Aunt appreciated it if she was able too.

I would have felt sad too, especially after spending time picking them out. It was quite rude of them to say that to you, even if they didn't want them they didn't have to say anything and just brought them to the nurses station another time. But usually people like this say things and have no idea they are hurting someone feeling.

@WormMan Exactly. My uncle used to be fun when I was a kid, but over the years his narcissism grew A LOT. He said once to my disabled sister," I cant talk to you Bec you are sick and I can't be around that"😮 I'd never DREAM of uttering something like that to a sick person, nevermind FAMILY. Ty for your thoughts 🌼

@Baybreeze That is a horrible thing to say to your own niece! I have a narcissistic person in my family and they have said some really horrible things to me trying to make me feel bad about myself. We don't speak anymore.

@WormMan same with a sister and one of the things was over flowers. As though she was spending the money out of her own pocket. So nasty about it too.

What the hell is wrong with them? You are right to go no contact.
Baybreeze · 41-45, F
@uncalled4 No surprise, it's the brother of my psychopath mom....🙁 And his daughter is following right in his footsteps..

@Baybreeze yikes
