ever been in the situation where you're talking to someone about something which is not meant to be funny

not meant to be serious either, but they start giggling or even burst out laughing? this has happened a few times, once with some young woman i was talking to about something, and as i was putting a point of view over to her, she suddenly starting giggling, and i felt a bit uptight about that and said ' hang on, how is that funny? i didn't see the funny side ' as what i was telling her wasn't meant to be funny?

anyone ever have a situation like this?

Yes, in therapy once. Don't get me wrong I did like this therapist, we didn't make that many strides in my healing but she did give me an eye opening activity once that helped my PTSD. One day I was describing how abrasive my mom was to me, and I was saying it as my mom did, something very demeaning, in a loud , aggressive tone... and she just started Laughing. I was thinking, this is NOT funny. Maybe it was the way I did it? I don't know but I was just trying to imitate my mom's abrasive tone, and the words were really mean and criticial. Again I did like that therapist, but I found it a bit awkward that she just started laughing at that when it was really not a light topic.
