Would you report a crime if you see it?

I just saw a robbery!! It was crazy as hell!!! I was walking and minding my own busines, and saw these two chavs stealing a huge smart TV from an open delivery van and run away with it!!! I was shocked to see that in broad daylight but I did nothing, I felt bad for the delivery guy he was very big and seemed naive didn't even know his van was open, my husband said you have no obligation to do anything about it.

I do report things when I see something wrong taking place, but the police have only acted once, when I have reported anything.
They were less than a minutes drive away from a school, when I saw pupils being kept against the wall separating the school grounds from the public walkway. The children were literally screaming, but the police drove away in the opposite direction, after thanking me for reporting it.
Another time two guys were planning to steal a car. The police told me to report it, after the crime had taken place.
Another time, and I can't even remember what I saw, but the police actually said they would wait to see if they got a report of this crime from another member of the public, before they would act on it,
I report anything, that I see, but the faith that I will be listened to, decreases each time that I try to do the right thing.
