what happens to all the wonderful books when library's are closed

[c=7700B2]here in the uk, you often hear now of libraries shutting down, a really sad thing, but all the sacred books in the libraries? what happens to them? because many of them are irreplaceable, it would be a travesty if they destroyed the books.[/c]

They replace books here at the local libraries with new ones with a similar subject but relevant to the day’s politics and sell the old ones that are replaced at book sales to raise money to buy more library materials. There were some really good books that I enjoyed reading that were done away with this way. I went to the same area and of course political themed books were what replaced them. Sad because the ones that were gone were more of a cultural theme and humanitarian in nature. I found some of those old books on Ebay and purchased them. Some of the newer books were donated by various organizations with a political leaning.
