Does peoples comprehension of things get better as they get older ?

I realized that even a few months ago there were things i couldnt understand or comprehend, like movie plots or certain situations but fast foward a few months or years and I understand it better, does that have something to do with out brains developing more as we get older ?

life experiences do change the way we see our world. Knowledge on too of the knowledge you already have. Brain development too, up to your late 20s? I think but I'm not certain.
