What's the most expensive car repair that you have ever needed?
Years ago, I had an old Ford Escort which had a misfire due to a broken valve spring. Total cost of the repair if I remember, was somewhere between $400-$450.

The o e I only had an estimate for was just north of $7k for a transmission on an AWD station wagon that was worth about $5k. Opted to donate the car as a non running parts car since everything else was pristine. That was not my fault or that of the vehicle, rather the tech who was supposed to change the fluid didn’t remember to put any back into the Volvo.
One that I had to pay was $4500 for general maintenance (fluids, belts, hoses) and tires on a Jaguar.
