Real life experience vs book knowledge

Would you say its better to learn about life through hands on real life experince or to listen to what others say and read/study ? And why ?

Both are important. You won't learn about molecules, nutrition, or cell function without reading what others have studied. But you also can't learn social interactions, compassion, or empathy without experience.
