Have you ever had the transmission go bad in a vehicle?

Mom had that happen to a 2007 Ford Escape, 7 years ago. Total cost to have it replaced was around $4,000.

My Dad put together two two different transmissions to create one for my 64.5 Mustang. At the time, I couldn't find one to buy at any price.
