If you really were unemployed and really needed a job...

Would you do a temporary assignment that could possibly end at any time without any prior notification, and risk ending up unemployed again?

@QuixoticSoul I think the best a person can hope for is maybe a couple of weeks notice with possibly some severance pay if they're really lucky.

@SW-User Some companies are better with severance than others. But in an emergency that can evaporate too even if it's in your contract.

Best thing to do is be in demand, and have a healthy emergency fund saved up. Maybe enough to where you can even take a vacation and unwind without stressing about the cost. Going into the next job all frazzled isn't always the best move either.

@QuixoticSoul I guess even if it was in your contract, there isn't much you can do as legal action would cost more than the severance pay.

Yes totally agree, having an emergency fund saved is a very smart idea.
