If you really were unemployed and really needed a job...

Would you do a temporary assignment that could possibly end at any time without any prior notification, and risk ending up unemployed again?

It would be smarter to take temporary jobs than to take a bad permanent job.

In interviews and resumes you can explain that you were taking temporary work to survive.

If you take a bad perm job and try to leave it right away... that’s a stain on your resume.
