The feeling when you're an adult living on their own

And it might be something like a flu or a cold, but you feel weak, cold and a bit vulnerable and you know it's only you you can rely on.

I think the hardest thing about being a single adult is wanting to feel safe or to have someone to hold or comfort you knowing that there's only you. Maybe it's sort of trauma related with me but I feel like this is s universal feeling.

I've always had to be strong for myself but sometimes I wish someone could comfort and support me. Sometimes I just want a hug but it's rare.

With me I just get pushups 😆 but I can't self improve out of being a human being.

Try it suddenly in your seveties when the house is so big you dont enter some rooms for days..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Does that matter. I live in three rooms when I’m in my own.

@peterlee No. I spend most of my time in just three rooms now.. I have more or less abandoned upstairs completely. But I am still adapting and decluttering.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I have a dear friend who is in her early 70s and lives alone yet still has her house with 5 bedrooms, four bathrooms, and attendant lounges, a study and a studio, etc.
I have suggested she release the equity by taking something smaller, but she persists with the familiar. She's a widow and I suspect she is maintaining memories to the extent that her forward momentum has stopped.
I am in the same general position, although appreciably younger, and she is a cautionary tale for me to act before my house and its grounds become a burden.

@newjaninev2 I have a number of reasons for not wanting to move, although I thought it through. As an inheritance there is a sizable advantage to our kids because we have lived here so long. When finally sold there will be no capital gains tax to be paid, plus house prices are still going up here. So the longer I hang on the better. Plus, we have a great location I would struggle to replace with access to all the services I want and even a major shopping mall at the top of the street. But we dont get the traffic. Plus we spent decades getting it all set up as we want it. So I am staying..😷

@newjaninev2 How old do you actually feel.

Best to live in the present.

@whowasthatmaskedman Here we have no capital gains tax - unless you admit to the Tax Department that you entered into ownership with the express and sole intention of making a capital gain and for some reason nobody admits that 😀

I hope you 'hang on' for a long time to come ❤

@newjaninev2 Thanks. Here we have no death duties or inheritance tax either. So with luck I will make the kids millionaires when I go. (Not that they need it. We raised clever people..)😷

@whowasthatmaskedman A million here, a million there... before you know it you're talking about serious money! 😂

@newjaninev2 Not that the kids need it. We raised sharks deliberately. He already owns 8 properties with his wife. While she Has the house with the pool I never delivered on and has three kids in private school. Both solid careers intent on getting rich slow..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Ah yes, it's that last part that is the key. My own parents inculcated in me a solid understanding that you can get rich slowly or poor quickly 😀
