Anybody else grow up in a household of angry, opinionated maniacs?

It wasn't always safe to offer an opinion in the household I grew up, but then sometimes you'd get in trouble for not giving an opinion, because they'd get angry at how quiet you were being.

I didn't feel safe enough to tell my parents i'm gay until the night before i left home for college at age 19. Even then, the first person I told was my older brother.

@AirForce687 See that sucks, I'm so sorry for you buddy.

opinionated, yes.
angry, thank god no.

but a lot of people these days hate it when you don't give an opinion, and when you do they would rather hear their own opinions from your mouth.

Yeah my household was quite chaotic

@Nanori Whenever there was an election or they were listening to the news or somehow go to arguing over whether Africa was a country or a continent. Or the time some lunatic shot a bunch of people here in Australia so they decided to toughen the gun laws, OH GOD!!!!!!!!!! It was the end of the world for my gun maniac father and then it was fight after fight after fight. Or the time the cops shot some mentally ill guy on the beach who was waving a knife around, yep, that one lasted a good couple of months.

Yeah my family is toxic and now I limit communication with them, which causes them to ask stupid questions like "why don't you visit me more, talk, etc"
Allelse · 36-40, M
@deadgerbil I cut off contact with my family, nope, nope, nope I'm not having any of their crap.
