Surprisingly, I am not good at small talk and yet people seem to insist on trapping me into it and there is no easy way out of it.

People seem to want to engage me in small talk and without much planning, introduction, or giving me time to prepare they seem to expect me to just "turn on." When I don't, they almost always say... "What's wrong?" I find that annoying and I never know what to say as an answer which only makes the conversation even more awkward.

I don't think this is social anxiety or anything like that.

Its a neurotypical world out there. They like you to ask questions, despite the answers being apparent and obvious.
