My mom was a teacher, so she wasnt too hard on me. She saw i did well in some things and poorly in others and accepted it.

Can't forget that. My dad would not scold or beat but he would give an impression that he would any minute.

I was degraded, no pun intended, and humiliated in front of anyone who would listen.
I was beat to the point of abuse.
I was made to stay in my room most days after school till dinner then bed.
I was grounded to the house for an entire summer break with no friends able to visit.
All that and I didn't even have it as bad as some.

My parents were rather indifferent.
As long as I behaved in school, that is what mattered.

They didn't

They were never bad when I had difficulties, but I felt bad for letting them down when it came to tertiary education

Mom never went beyond the third grade and in a poor country. Dad just wasn't around enough to know. I doubt he ever saw a report card. And mom just couldn't understand one. She had problems even reading.

Mom was ok, my dad not so much, particulary if they were in Math ( and I always got bad grades in math ☹️)

My family told me to withdraw from softball team because of my bad grades.

They were disappointed and clearly showed they expected more from me. I was reproached for not studying enough or they just assumed I was too dumb to do any better.
Later a bad grade from math was okay, other subjects were not. I've always been forgiven more easily than my brother because I wasn't a genius child.

Privileges were withdrawn. If I got bad grades, the assumption by my parents was that I needed to study rather than hang out with friends.

father beat me, and grounded me...very strict

My dad would beat me and my mom literally did not care if I failed or not. So it just depended on who I was living with at the time

It was the typical "oh you're never gonna amount to anything in life because you get shitty grades" so I stopped caring what they think and I got bad grades anyway.

My old man would beat the shit outta me 🤷‍♂️
