I can't imagine it inviting me, but this makes me think of one of the Marx Brothers (Groucho?) who famously took the mickey out of exclusive private clubs by remarking he would never join one that would refuse his membership.

There is no such thing in reality, although I understand there are people who have read the novel, The daVinci Code, and believe it a documentary.

It seems there was a real Illuminati, a "secret society" formed in 18C Bavaria to oppose Church domination. It lasted barely 9 years.

The name goes back to the 15C, for various small groups, real and fictitious; but despite being only a side-line to Reformation-era European church politics, it seems to fascinate conspiracy-fantasists even now.
