It might be that you have unresolved issues within your own mind, regarding the ex. I have those. I don't SEE him in the mirror, but I have upsetting dreams at times, and the ex is always the reason I am upset...mainly because, in the dreams, he is behaving kindly or as a close companion, and not as the monstrous thing he eventually became.
My waking mind doesn't really think about him at all, but once in a while my subconscious sneaks into my dreams and tries to work out the Jekyll and Hyde dichotomy.
