How bad is your social anxiety?

SilkWeb · 26-30, F
Bad, bad lol I make groceries at 2 am because I know no one will be there.
SW-User
@SilkWeb I used to do that before I had a kid but I decided that sleep was more important
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
I’m an introvert but anxiety isn’t the issue. I just get worn out being around others for a long time and then need alone time to recover.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@iamnikki Right? My wife has a huge extended family, all local. Seems like there’s a big event every month. It’s fun for a bit but I get my fill pretty quickly. I
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Harmonium1923 I know, I don't understand how folks can sit around talking about nothing allll day long .
Carissimi · F
Same here. Even though I suffer from social anxiety with men, I’m also introvert, and can only stand so much interaction before I feel exhausted by it. @Harmonium1923
FaeLuna · 31-35, F
It can be pretty bad some days. It's one of my weaknesses, especially anything involving a family holiday, or having to make a phone call.
SW-User
I don’t have social anxiety .. only occasional situational anxiety...
SW-User
Not that bad. It used to be worse. Literally would freak out when I'd have to order or ask for anything. I couldn't even talk to anyone without pumping myself up for 30 minutes. I let a lot of opportunities slip by because of it.

But I'm chillin now. I kind of grew out of it, in a sense. When I lost weight and stuff like that, everything just became so much easier. I didn't feel like I was being judged so much.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@SW-User yes, we realize as we go along and grow up. Often personal tragedies make us thick skinned, ive experienced it too

I wouldn’t know how to find a guy who wants a friendship with me. @Tellmeaboutyourself
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@Carissimi i think in all our relationships, we have clear cut limits, when it comes to opp gender we have our love radar too and can pretty much understand what the other person wants too after a while

It depends. For example, my job sometimes requires me to speak in front of 50 to 100 colleagues. I'm used to working with these people one on one or in smaller groups, but put them all in a room in front of me then my social anxiety increases quite a bit! I dont like it... wish I wasn't like this.😕
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@StarLily most of the people hesitate to speak in front of larger crowds. I think it is natural, you said you have very good skills when it comes to dealing with small groups. During seminars, i used to have the same feeling where 200 people used to be seated, lots and lots of practice at home helped me in giving the ppt
StarLily · 51-55, F
@Tellmeaboutyourself I just dont like that many eyes on me all at once I think.😬
SW-User
It can get pretty bad sometimes.
SW-User
It goes from neutral to bad.
SW-User
Bad, most of the time.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@SW-User :/ over time, we'll figure out a way to get things done
CodeLyoko · 18-21, M
Its getting better nothing compared to highschool. I cam go shopping and order my own food now plus got a job and can drive now. Its still pretty bad but im always working on it
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@CodeLyoko i think you are doing great. I started taking public transport now to change
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
Holdontothefire · 26-30, M
Talking to random people is hard and when I'm forced into places with people I tend to get tunnel vision to keep myself from getting self conscious. So not horrible, but limiting.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@Holdontothefire yes, taking it one day at a time
greenmountaingal · 80-89, F
Bad enough to make me avoid most social events.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@greenmountaingal it takes one small step to conquer that fear and begin again. I felt as if i had conquered the world when i made one small trip out of my comfort zone after years
greenmountaingal · 80-89, F
@Tellmeaboutyourself I am trying to do that.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
Ryannnnnn · 31-35, M
Used to be bad when I smoked weed. Not bad now that I don't care, everyones too focused on themselves to notice anyway.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@Ryannnnnn true. When i started viewing things as a third person, it gave some comfort
I have to be around people most of the day, so I can manage. It’s not easy though.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@Texasgurl I had the same struggle too and was embarrassed at one point as most of the people outside of my circle also came to know. Now i think it is nothing to be embarrassed about, everyone has their own battles and im sure trying to figure out mine too
DearAmbellina2113 · 41-45, F
It varies.

If it's a small, crowded place, I go into full on panic mode.
Tellmeaboutyourself · 26-30, F
@DearAmbellina2113 maybe you are claustrophobic and not socially anxious
Selah ·
Im not sure im mostly isolated & avoid unfamiliar places😅
ExtremeNext · 36-40
