Is there hope for someone like me?

I used to be a lot more outgoing and social but have become somewhat of a hermit in recent years as anxiety has taken over my life. Anyone had this through their 20s? Will this get any better? It stops me from doing so much.

Meditation, avoid the drugs at all costs they are just poisoning your brain. Here is a free book to help you with the practice of mediation.

@curiosi thank you. Meditation seems like something I could try

@FapMasterJam This video is of news anchor Dan Harris who had a panic attack on air and found using mediation helped him where drugs had failed.

Anxiety and social anxiety can be treated. There are many confidence building courses or books. Fundamentally you need to believe in yourself and back yourself.

I struggle with this as well but I force myself to go out and do things and remain somewhat optimistic
FapMasterJam · 31-35, M
@Effloresce I think a lot of my problem is that I find it extremely hard to go out and do things. Even when I'm motivated to do something I'm held back by the fear that something bad will happen

@Effloresce thinking positive is helpful.

Wish you the best.

Yeah that happened to me/also moved a lot and got used to not knowing people. You just gotta do something new like take a course or get involved in something to meet people. If you work on working out as well it'll help your anxiety and self confidence.
FapMasterJam · 31-35, M
@Ryannnnnn I have actually been thinking about working out as I spend a lot of time at home doing nothing at all. I figure I might as well use that time to get in shape and like you said it could boost my self confidence

@FapMasterJam Good idea. It'll help ya chemically and you'll get a sense of power and confidence that'll help ya get out there again.

See a therapist about dbt therapy
FapMasterJam · 31-35, M
@MayRey thanks I'll look into that

Yes. It gets better as you mature and it gets WAY better with medication.
FapMasterJam · 31-35, M
@Doomflower I tried meds once and it got a lot worse. I know there's lots of different meds but it put me off and I found it hard to even go to the doctors in the first place
Doomflower · 41-45, M
@FapMasterJam I hear that. Like you I had a rough couple first meds and it put me off them for a long time. I finally went back to meds due to crippling depression and anxiety and found something that helps.

go to cvs and talk to minute clinic nurse there and get SSRI meds.
FapMasterJam · 31-35, M
@Carazaa I tried meds before but didn't like it
Carazaa · F
@FapMasterJam SSRI's take 8 weeks to kick inand with anxious people they ususually go off them as soon as they feel different because of their anxiety. Try another SSRI and go to therapy, SSRI meds can heal the brain. Also eat nuts, and home cooked meals, and take a fish oil Omega 3 daily (really works)fight your anxiety and do not give in to it, don't stay home, challenge yourself.
