So this lady called the police on the car dealership because she didn't want to pay for her car repairs. What type of entitled shiz is this?

I can't even make this type of stupid situation up.
So my dad is the director of the service department at the dealership he works at. I came to see him for early lunch because I wanted to get out of the house. I show up right as the police do. Apparently this crazy woman was angry that the repair for her car took five hours instead of three hours and so she thought that meant the repairs should be for free and was refusing to pay/complaining about the cost. Obviously my dad and the managers told her she couldn't have her car back until she paid for the bill (it was about $200 give or take if anyone cares). So the lady called the police saying that the dealership "stole her car and wouldn't let her leave". She legitimately thought the cops were going to make the dealership give her the car for free. My dad made me sit in his office but I could see through the glass doors/hear her arguing with the cops about the situation. In the end she had to pay- though she left threatening to sue the dealership for "unfair" treatment saying the whole costumer is always right BS and claiming that my dad was working together with the cops to bully her into paying for something that she should get for free since she was inconvenienced. This is why I can't work in costumer service and have respect for those who can because there's no way I could put up with people like that.

I’ve worked at a car lot and that crazy crap happens. One man bought a truck and never made payments. My boss had the tow-truck driver drive around looking for that truck for several weeks, he hadn’t paid in about 4 months and wouldn’t answer calls either on his cell phone or his employer. So the tow truck driver found it and had it towed. The guy that bought it came and said he’d pay all the money he owned & demanded it back with the same loan. Boss told him no, and he said he’d be hearing from his lawyer. No lawyer every sent a letter or called and that was about 4 years ago.

@waleskinder I could write a book about it. One young woman had parents that had bought about 4 cars and paid them off. She needed a car and they brought her to look at cars. There was something strange in her eyes, flat with no expression (I believe that she was a sociopath because I have a niece that way). She also did the very same thing. Hadn’t paid for over 3 months, wouldn’t answer her phone, changed jobs and moved. Her mother called and told us where she was working. I did an online search of her name and found out she was on probation for something. The tow truck driver went to her place of work several times when he was in the area and never could find that vehicle. The mother even set up a lunch with her at a restaurant so we could get the car towed, she parked far away or something to hide the car. Called her probation officer and told him to give her the message and he said he would. Finally the tow truck driver randomly found it at an apartment complex one day in Oklahoma City, he remembered the tag number & car description, towed it and brought it back to the lot. She came back to get her stuff out of it, there were receipts where she’d been to clubs & partying & stuff...which is typical for these people who won’t make their payments...clubs, casinos, vodka bottles, beer cans, etc. in the trunk. We’ve seen some of them in the casino after they’ve called and said they couldn’t make a payment but would a few days later. That’s usually when the boss would decide to repo the vehicle.

In my opinion she got off cheap.

Typical LABOR rates are about 85 per hour and the fact that it took longer means they honored the 3 hour time window even though the repair took longer not to mention that the pricing for parts.

I have a 2015 GT-R and trust me, I know that when the time estimate is wrong then sometimes the dealership eats those labor rates.

To me it sounds like this dealership's service department has integrity.

That's the thing, my dad actually was also going to give ehr a small discount because of the two hour longer wait but she still wasn't having it. They didn't make really a profit at all off her repair but I guess some people don't see it that way or just don't know.

Dealerships are a joke anyways, they charge 3-4 times what a local shop does and take much longer (and quite frankly, their mechanics are usually incompetent morons).

aka, it's her own damn fault for going through dealership to begin with

Idk how long your dad has worked to become 'director' of a service department, but the title will send him to an early grave. I hung it up after 10 years and I still get calls from area dealers wondering if I'd consider getting back into the game.

@hlpflwthat On trust me he's been the director for a long time and the other store they had him at was less stressful but this store he's currently at is a mess with crazy costumers and employees. He comes home everyday hating everything and being tired but he worked too hard for it and makes good money so he refuses to leave.

I hope you're being sarcastic or trolling. The service department at this store isn't anything like the sales department and if you actually think she should commit arson over it being an extra 2 hours wait then you should seek serious help.

@SW-User I'm not mistaken or dishonest. They weren't charging her for 5 hours of work because it was their mistake for taking so long. So they were charging for 3 hours work like it would have been but then put a discount on top of that so it was more like 2 hours of work charged which is why it was about $200. Obviously it wasn't exactly $200 dollars on the dot since I said give or take. Either way, I'm still concerned that you think arson is the answer.

@NaturallyPeculiar There are all varities of customers. I once overheard my boss talk to a local pizza owner that complained that they charged them for an entire hour when we only were at their place for about 20 minutes.

Companies generally don't charge by the minute.
