When the original owner tells they are yours....until then they are forever borrowed. If they ask for them back and you refuse they become stolen.

Possession is 9/10’s the law.

When the previous owner declares the borrowed goods yours. I mean if you ask if they want it back and if they say no that's just as good as a declaration as well.

When I borrow sweatshirts from my husband they become mine. 😁

The way I look at it, if I borrow something then I am only going to keep it as long as I need it or am using it (unless they ask for it back before I'm done with it). If I am done with it I'm going to take it back or at least offer to give it back...I won't wait for them to ask for it, they shouldn't have to.

In English law, possession is nine tenths of the law, there is an assumption in law that the person who has possession of the item is the legal & rightful owner & the burden of proof lies with any secondary party to prove otherwise.

When you ask to ‘borrow’ something, it’s unspoken but understood that there’s a time limit. If you keep it, it’s a two-fer offense, lying and stealing.
Oh geeze you're as bad as my middle bro; he just takes stuff for himself that isnt even his.. Its basic stealing fyi

Ownership doesn't transfer unless told directly that the item(s) do not have to be given back.
