no, I prefer low-mid range torque

not something that sounds like a mad bee going up a grade...

@wildbill83 You drove one too I see. lol Darned things would give you whiplash as it passed 3500 rpm. Zero torque until then though.

@hippyjoe1955 rotary engines make very little torque until 5-6k

@wildbill83 the one I drove seemed to kick at about 3500 and went up from there. I never took it to 5000. It was too loud at 4000.

@hippyjoe1955 older rx7's redline at 8000 (not sure about auto's or newer rotary's/rx8, etc.)

anything more than a 6-7% grade, you might as well stay in 2nd gear to keep up any speed

@wildbill83 Yeah they definitely were a niche market. Much like the modern electrics I think. I drove it a few times and didn't like the squished grape feeling I got when I stepped on the accelerator and the revs didn't change for a minute or two.

@hippyjoe1955 main reason I went with my current S4, descent power, good in winter/snow, will pull well in any gear, and is still practical/will seat 4 adults

@wildbill83 Yeah that makes sense. I own a F150 4 wheel drive with a 3.5 liter gas engine. No end of torque. I can run up 11% grades at highway speed and it won't down shift of lug.
