Yep. Along with cassette players. I remember that if you wanted to make your own mixed tape you'd have to wait by the cassette player and hit record when you heard the song you wanted play on the radio.

Now show him how you can tap out phone numbers by banging on the hook at the right speed, I used to challenge myself to call people like that.

@SW-User I never done that

SW-User
@Gusman Yeah, that's actually how the dial worked, it interrupted the connection in sequence, so you can simulate that if you get the rhythm right.

@SW-User See, I'm still learning🙂

SW-User
I hear that in New Zealand phone dials went backwards due to Coriolis force

@SW-User 🤔Australia is in the same hemisphere and that never happened here🙂

SW-User
@Gusman I was joking but they really did have reverse dials there for some reason. I don't know why my memory holds shit like this forever but I can't remember what happened yesterday.

My mom had one until she died. Was funny to see people pause and then use it.

I grew up with one just like that except black

SW-User
@MasterDvdC yep and wired into the wall and you risked the wrath of the Phone Cops if you covertly added an extension
