Do you believe familiarity breeds contempt, and thus friendship is an illusion?

KelseyR · 26-30, F
No. It's just a reminder that we sometimes forget to count our blessings.

Familiarity can sometimes cause misunderstandings.

But IF y'all are GOOD friends you would be open with each other and communicate.

It's nice to be comfortable with your friends, but boundaries are important.

No egos in friendship. No, no, no.

Yes, but things in their measure can be good. We're social animals, we learn and measure ourselves in relation to one another. It's a vital aspect of being I think

Maybe. Seems to play out that way, for me. 'Course, it didn't used to. I always viewed my friends as friends and my enemies as enemies.

But. Dogs love their friends and hate their enemies, much unlike humans who must always mix feelings of love and hate. -nietzsche

Your question reminds me of that play No Exit, from where we get the famous quote, Hell is other people

Familiarity does bring contempt but on the other hand, it makes a friendship survive. We wouldn't keep coming to the same freinds if they were someone different every single day. Generally people stop being freinds when they realize they're not the same people anymore.

No, I don’t believe that.
