I used to work for a huge phone company, and I hate paying huge bills to pay for their huge office buildings and enormous salaries (I was a low level worker and only made 54,000 a year). Nowadays, since I am paying for internet anyway, I use a MagicJack phone line. It is almost exactly like a landline and works perfectly as long as my computer stays on. AND you only pay 59.00 for a year with unlimited long distance. I supplement that phone service with my cell phone for days when the power is out or other emergencies.
