Have any of you ever taken self defense class?

I have a third dan karate black belt and yes I have had to use it.

I studied Shotokan karate for years. While I've had to use elements of it in term of reactions and deflection, I've never had to land an actual blow outside tournaments. The confidence that comes with know I could - devastatingly - is enough to let my confidence show through and keep me out of most trouble.

yes and yes, worked like a charm. guy throws a right, you step to YOUR right and counter with a right of your own, repeat as needed.

works even better if they threw a left first. lol

but if they are left handed you might want to do the opposite..

I joined a short six-week class on as an elective in high school. I can still do all the moves and although I can't fight as well as someone in an actual martial arts class, I wont shy away from using them. Luckily I've never had to! My town is pretty peaceful :)

Never taken a class. I highly recommend you learn Krav Maga. You can turn any guy into a broken weeping mass

I went to an inner city HS and grew up around a city ghetto. The best self defense class that exist.
