If topless attire for women was allowed in your state.. would you be for or against it.

Personally I think all women should have the choice and I believe in equal rights. if women can't then men shouldn't. plain and simple. Now we also have to consider... some of the people (male and female) will never grow up and would always cause trouble for everyone.

I thought it was legal in many places even though we don't often see it. The argument is that it would be discriminatory if men but not women can display their chests. I know it's legal in NYC for instance.

I'd be supportive. There's no reason to ban such choices except for aesthetics, in which case the same standard should be applied to men.

@SweetMae Where I live there have been a few "experiments" with statutes allowing public nudity. It became problematic on many levels. Starting with the fact that it's [b]never[/b] folks with "beach bodies" who want to walk around town nude. 😑

Totally agree! We sexualize female breasts so much to the point that it seems disgusting to some people when they see them for what they're for: breastfeeding. Just tell me how messed up that is. Like, their mothers used to feed them from it, but they'd freak out if they saw them topless. Big fucking deal.

Topfree is legal in this very red state. Very few women exercise this right. Those who do are ticketed for "disturbing the peace". Who wants the expense and trouble of going to court because of a busybody and or an ignorant cop?

@SW-User Why wouldn't it be about equality? If a man/woman wants to go outside without a shirt, why should any other man/woman have a say in how they dress?

And, if you're talking about the danger a woman might be put in by making that decision, we're talking about something far more insidious than shirt coverage now. We're talking about rape culture.

@SINAI Those are issues. Women should be paid the same as men for the same work, and should be offered the same opportunities. One of those opportunities should be freedom of expression, including modes of dress.
