What type of human makes the best pet keeper?

@DeWayfarer It needs to be a person who understands how the pet sees its world. Once you are there, the rest is details.😷

@whowasthatmaskedman close.
There is the affinity to certain types animals that's in the question as well.
Not all animals are the same either.

@DeWayfarer Agreed. I am a dog person. Dogs want to belong and fit into the pack. So leadership, understanding and showing approval go with the kindness and good treatment. Dogs want to be included.. Cats on the other hand know they own you. They tolerate you living with them. Just show up with food regularly. (never late) and allow them to rub scent on you to demonstrate ownership and they are fine..I confuse my daughters cats by ignoring them and not seeking their approval. They pay me more attention than anyone else because of it..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman too general. Specifically on cats.
They not as independent as you think. Now certain types of cats are as you speak. Yet not so much Felis catus.
You should see the pack of them here.

@DeWayfarer I accept that individual behaviour and breed tendencies play a role.. But I think the message of a cat walking back and forth across my lap meowing at me while I stare at the TV is clear.."Look at me!"😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I want attention is expressed in so many types of attention. It doesn't need to be any specific type of attention. Let your cat out and it will be just as happy. And even thank you when it comes back in.

@DeWayfarer These are indoor cats. Dont blame me. They are are not mine...😷

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't have indoor only cats. Never had one and I know of many.
That's the humans doing. To me it's like keeping a dog only outside. And I see that all the time.
My half brother was such a dog person. 🤬
"It has a dog house to keep it out of the snow"... Not heated or air conditioned of course.

@DeWayfarer To me a dog is a non voting member of the family. Considered always and consulted where possible..😷

@whowasthatmaskedman it's the consideration part that some have serious problems. Especially when the weather conditions are concerned.
Here, in this desert, they have problems understanding just how hot it is. It gets to 120°f (48.89°c) here!
With my half brother, he didn't consider the snow being a problem. If it's intolerable for humans, it's intolerable for many animals.
It applies to even ranch animals. And why there are such things a stables and barns.
I have taken care of horses. And some of the conditions are deplorable there.
No consideration.
Would you keep a horse wallowing in its own muck? I have seen it happening on Indian reservations.
I like all types of wildlife. See my wildlife photo album.
Even snakes and spiders.
I never transported them out of their natural habitat.
