When you adopt a furfriend, you don’t always get the story of their previous life. But it’s precious to learn about them and help them through anxieties they had picked up.

My dog must have been with someone ill who petted him all the time.

My cat was rescued from a kill shelter in New York by a veterinarian in Lancaster, Massachusetts. The kill shelter told the vet that he was a stray.

When I brought him home, he was terrified. Scared of people wearing dark pants and heavy boots or shoes, scared of people in general, and used to hide ALL the time. He does not like to be picked up, or held.

He [i]does[/i] go absolutely crazy for smoked turkey from the deli. So I surmised his previous owner was an elderly lady who like smoked turkey.
