Morning Walks and Wonderings
Blue jeans and a white t-shirt. A cigarette hanging at the corner of my wry smile.
My eyes bright, blue, and filled with the look of deep thoughts.
The sun shining down through the cool morning air as the birds and beasts make their way into the dawn of their new day. It’s light and brilliance diffused by branch and leaf.
It all makes me wonder how the night manages to be so dark ?
The overnight dew deadens the sounds of my footfalls as I walk along this woodland path. The river slides by me on my right, heading in the opposite direction. Sometimes I wonder what it might be like to be a drop within it?
To float idly and endlessly in an effort to reach the sea. Witnessing untold stories of nature and the wild things.
The leaves are beginning to change. They will make their way through the reds, yellows and oranges to eventually rest inside the brown. Shortly thereafter the trees will let them fall away. Drifting in finality to the forest floor. Becoming one with the earth.
Wisps and tendrils of fog dance across the reflections on the surface of the ruddy waters. A lone dragonfly darts to and fro amidst a cloud of tiny flying insects. His size makes him a giant among specks of life.
Oh, to be here and grateful for the solitude and peace….
