Workout advice? [I Am Scared to Walk Home Alone At Night]

I have not gained or lost much weight in about 2 years. I am not really overweight. I am still curvy, busty, and sexy. But, I want to tone up my body and drop about thirty pounds. Now that my boyfriend is the only one working, I am having a hard time doing that. You'd think it would be easier, but it's not. We only have one car, and we won't be able to get another one until August. I have two gym options, one requires driving, and the other requires walking. So, I have decided that the one that requires walking is better, because they are open 24 hours. Here are the problems. It is hot and humid as hell outside during the day. The only time I'd be motivated to walk to the gym is later in the evening. I normally stay in the gym for an 90 to 120 minutes. So, by the time I leave, and I am too scared to walk to at night. I have to go through a residential neighborhood, so that makes me feel a bit better, but I worry about people catching on to my routine, as I have dealt with creeps in the past before while walking. My other option is to go at night when my boyfriend is home from work. He does not get off until between 12 and 2 in the morning. So, this is pretty late. This would be ok if the 24 hour gym were staffed at that time. But, the staff leaves at 10 at night. So, there is no one in the building, other than other gym members after that. I went with my boyfriend at like 3:00 am before, and it was really creepy. There was only us and another couple in there. I worry about going alone, because I can easily be taken advantage of. I am only 5"1. So barely over five feet tall. I know this sounds a little dramatic to some, but the gym has clear windows all around the building, and sometimes you see strange men walking around at night. There is also an alley way behind the gym that leads to a liquor store. I don't know if I am being over-dramatic. I really want to start working out before August. Right now I have some pent up tension I want to release. Any ideas? I live in Tennessee by the way. So, it's extremely hot and humid during the day. It honestly takes your breath away almost, because I live in the south along the Mississippi river. I also watch way too much true crime, and have taken a few criminal justice classes. So, I have learned about my fair share of crazy cases. Plus, I hate working out at home. Cardio is my thing. So the gym is best. If it were fall, this really wouldn't be such a problem, because I don't mind walking during the day in cooler air. Plus we get a lot of dangerous heat index warnings, where they recommend we stay inside during the sunnier and hotter hours of the day. Which also happen to be the best time to go, when it's sunny.

Can you drop your boyfriend off at work maybe three days a week and drive to either gym? Everything you say does make sense. I drive to the gym 3 days a week.

@Docdon23 That's a really good idea! I am going to talk about that with him.

@Saucylover You just made my day!! Thank you!! I find that if I drive to the gym, I am there, and might as well do as much as I can...agree about working out at home, it just does not happen, and PLEASE, be safe walking, and PLEASE do not let any creeps do any harm to you!!! Maybe you could return the car when your boyfriend has a meal break...and connect a bit during his work as well!

Do what you can from home. Pull up bars, free weights, push ups, etc.

you present an almost insolvable conundrum. We bought equipment and had it in our basement. That solved everything, we didn't have to get "dressed" to go to the gym. We moved into an apartment now which has a gym, we go every day, sometimes we find others there, usually not too many.

Can you call a cab?
Saucylover · 26-30, F
@saintsong We live in a small town. There is no cab service. It is also very expensive to get lyfts and ubers to come out here regularly. They actually just started to coming to our neck of the woods like a year ago lol.
