The Bible and Evolution

Science tells us the earth is billions of years old, while the Bible tells us it's about 6000 years old.
The Bible states in several places that 1 day is as a thousand years...
Therefore, the earth could be billions of years old.
The same can be said for God creating everything in 7 days.
7 days could be 7000 years.

Now, The creation account is divided into seven days during which God creates everything, Genesis 1:1-2:4. We don't know for certain if those 7 days = 7000 years. We also don't know if those 7 days were consecutive days.
During that time, (the 7000+ years,) it would be possible for a certain amount of evolution to take place, but that evolution would be a same to same evolution. In other words, a cat would not evolve into a dog, but a cat could evolve into another form of cat. Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs, Panthers, etc are all part of the cat family.

We also do not know just how simple Adam and Eve were. They were very similar to us but probably more Neanderthal than we are now. This could explain what scientists have allegedly proven to be neanderthal existence.

The Bible does prove that we, (humans) did not evolve from apes or crawl out of the ocean as fish.
1 Corinthians 15:38-39 KJV
38. But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
39. All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

So, while there is some sort of evolution of sorts that has taken place, very little of it has taken place with humans. Humans, as well as other living creatures, can evolve according to their environments, but this usually takes generations and takes place extremely gradual.

Correct, nowhere in the Bible does it say the Earth is 6,000 years old. Those who interpreted the Hebrew Bible theorized that notion of a 6,000-year-old Earth and taught it and passed down those teachings throughout the generations.

2nd Peter 3:8 says 1,000 years to the Lord is as one day and a day is as a thousand years is also a way of saying God is not limited to time nor is anything that he do. So a day could be a million years as far as God is concerned. Since God set man up under the system of a 24-hour day they used the term day.

When you examine the usage of the Hebrew word for day yome in Genesis you will find that it can also mean a span of time, a division of time, Strong's Concordance.

And no humans did not evolve from the fish. The Bible clearly says in Genesis 1: God formed man from the dust of the Earth and placed him in the garden, that God breathed the breath of life into man. All other things God told the Earth to bring forth from plants to animals, so one can say everything else may have evolved from the Earth but not man.

And when you read scripture and look at the process that man has determined evolution went by coincides with the bible. Plants were first they have now discovered that plants are millions of years older than first thought,m; water life, which would be all marine life; then the Beast first and cattle second beast or more like the dinosaurs and cattle the much tamer animals which we have today; and lastly God put man here. And because it says God placed man in the garden, that indicates man was not made created on Earth but created from the elements of the earth and placed on Earth.

Good teachings!

Right! Brilliant! Evolution is not only INcompatible with God's Word, but is not in harmony with God's Word.

Evolution teaches that death existed for millions of years before humans, which contradicts the Bible's teaching that death is a result of sin.

Evolution challenges the integrity and pureness of God's Word, and is inconsistent with God's character.

Evolution teaches that God permitted millions of years of death, struggle, and dying, to bring life to its present state, which is inconsistent with God's character. No one knows exactly how old the Earth IS! They speak as if they were there before the foundation of the Earth by God, our Creator. Such nonsensical reasoning.

Proverbs 3:5. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding."

People need to realize that God is far more smarter and wiser than any of us could ever be.

@LadyGrace hopefully you don't mind me giving my views. It could possibly be that man is the only one that had a form of immortality animals didn't.

Wasn't it the fruit of the Tree of Life that gave immortality according to Genesis 3:22 where God put them out of the garden so that they wouldn't eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life and live forever. It is not indicated that animals ate from the Tree of Life only man.

This is absolutely brilliant! Your time and obvious effort have proved rewarding and effective. Much appreciated. How refreshing, your God given sense and faithfulness to God and His Word. Much thanks for this! Keep up the good work. What a joy to read!

My view of science and religion is this, there are some mysteries science hasn't been able to solve yet, and when they do, they'll find God

I am a scientist and have no issue with both reigion and scientific creation. God creates the rules of physics and chemistry and gives a little nudge...as far as Biblical accounts i have no problem with the inspired word of God being allegorical to teach us His word.

This is about the most intelligent explanation I’ve seen here regarding how faith and scientific reasoning don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Well done and thank you for posting.

@Bearsfan67 I must agree.

The bible is not a book of science, it’s a book of myths. You clearly have no understanding of evolution
