Concepts like money, science, religion aren't inherently bad. People are. So, when religion is popularized it is distorted. The same with science, music, art, sports, everything. It's sold out, whitewashed, watered down, corrupted, and terribly useful for power. Bullshit. The so-called skeptic knows religion in that temporal sense. Archaic traditions distorted long ago but you have the ideological myopia that allows that to happen just as the masses allowed it with first religion then politics, now science.
There are always a few to resist the process, as there are many now resisting the process as it happens to science. Follow the money. . . .
The so-called creationists don't know the Bible because they are ideologues supported by their own dwindling masses. So, 99% of modern day apostate "Christianity" believe, not in the Bible they profess, but Greek philosophy, most of which probably originated in Babylon and made its way over time to Greek philosophy then to them. The immortal soul from Socrates, the trinity from Plato, the cross from Constantine, hell from Dante and Milton, the rapture from Darby, Christmas from Saturnalia, and Easter from Astarte. The Bible doesn't teach any of that stuff.
So, how can they represent the Bible with any degree of accuracy when it comes to the Biblical creation account in Genesis? Not likely. Many of them think the Universe was created in 6 literal days about 6,000 years ago. That doesn't come from an accurate translation of the Bible. Their version of science is probably as daft as their version of the Bible.
And that's why I'm consistent in my thinking. Creationism is bullshit, religion is bullshit because Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Confucianism, Hinduism have all undergone the same transmogrifying process of corruption. Shintoism, interestingly enough, sort of had syncretism built into it from the start. It was about community rather than doctrine, but it sold out to and failed miserably in World War II. Scientism was designed with the corruption built in. It was designed for the corruption.
If you had a brains in your head that wasn't similarly corrupted by ideology - if you had a pure sense of what science is - you would have already known all of this. Facts aren't [b]really[/b] important to ideologues. Science isn't really important to ideologues. You know nothing about the religion you are skeptical of and almost nothing about the science you profess. Fairness and objectivity mean nothing to you. Only the ideology. Groupthink. Power. You are an adherent of a power paradigm. It requires nothing more than your unquestionable devotion. It becomes a part of you and so you will defend it with whatever means necessary.
